Home Hacks That Will Change Your Life

Home Hacks That Will Change Your Life

Savannah LucaxSun Aug 15 2021

I am sure most of us would much rather have someone else clean our showers or vacuum our floors – I know I would. In saying that, there are several ways that you can finish your housework faster and still achieve excellent results. Our team at LAINE have shared some of their favourite hacks they use in their everyday lives to keep their home clean and organised. You might even learn a new trick that you can implement into your own life!

Here is a great hack from Bethany, our Customer Happiness Representative. She suggests putting one Polident tablet into your toilet with your weekly clean. This hack is designed to keep your toilet looking sparkly white. She does this every week and swears by the results! (Fun fact: Polident’s actual purpose is to clean and whiten dentures, which explains why it works wonders for toilets too.)

We’ve also got a handy life hack from Kenny, the man in charge of Warehouse Distribution. Kenny recommends folding your freshly washed duvet and placing it inside the pillow slip, making it nearly impossible to lose it later! You won’t be losing any more laundry with this organisational hack.

Here’s a hack from me, Savannah, your resident Copywriter and Content Creator. If I had to pick one chore that I despise the most, it would probably be cleaning the shower. As a result, I always welcome tips for making this job less painful. The other day, I was scrolling through my socials and came across a video about this very topic that caught my eye. The tip was to get your hands on a scrubbing brush with an inbuilt soap dispenser and fill it with your shower cleaner of choice. Leave this in your shower and give your shower a quick wipe down every day once you’ve finished showering. This way, you save yourself from having to do a massive deep clean later, as your shower never really gets super dirty!

The next one comes from our Data Analyst, Jamie. I’d never heard of this one before, but apparently you can test whether your eggs have gone bad with just a large glass or bowl of tap water. Simply place the egg into the water and take note of whether it floats or sinks. If they sink to the bottom, you are in the clear! However, if they float, that is an indication that the egg has gone bad and is not fit for human consumption.

Got a microwave that is getting a bit grubby? Make cleaning it a breeze with this simple hack. Simply fill up a microwave-safe bowl with one cup of water and a teaspoon of dish soap. Turn the microwave on for a couple of minutes and let it sit for an extra few minutes before opening the microwave door. From there, you can easily wipe away any greasy substances that are clinging to your microwave! Easy.

Do your dishes sometimes come out of the dishwasher still wet and dripping with water? No worries! This can be fixed with just a few basic changes. Firstly, make sure that you are leaving space between your dishes when you are stacking them. Secondly, you’ll want to get into the routine of opening your dishwasher as soon as it is finished to let out the steam.
