Savannah LucaxWed Dec 13 2023
We are very excited to announce that we have officially brought Tupperware back to the NZ market! Tupperware containers have been a staple in Kiwi homes for years, with the brands absence in the last year being acutely felt. We are proud to announce our partnership with Tupperware, officially bringing Tupperware stock back to New Zealand via online retail.
In this blog, we will cover exactly what is so special about Tupperware plastic food containers. This includes the sustainability of Tupperware containers, their ability to assist with meal prepping and pantry organisation, and their award-winning design that has made them a household name. Discover some of their best-selling plastic storage containers, alongside other top sellers in the bakeware realm and kitchen gadget space.
The story behind the revival of Tupperware in NZ
Let’s rewind time a bit and jump back to 1946, shortly after the Great Depression, when Earl Tupper created his first lot of airtight plastic food containers. He had a mission to reduce food waste among families by creating an airtight container that kept food fresh for longer. This was just the beginning of a new evolution of food storage solutions.
Tupperware has held tightly onto their values from inception, with sustainability at the forefront of everything they do. The brand aims to help people save time, money space food and energy, achieving this through their innovative product design.
Tupperware initially became known for their Tupperware parties but Covid quickly put a stop to in-house Tupperware parties. This led to Tupperware’s absence from the NZ market in the last year. Fast forward to 2023 and Tupperware has shifted away from Tupperware parties and into the realm of online retail.
What’s so special about Tupperware?
If you weren’t brought up with Tupperware in your kitchen, you may be wondering what is so special about Tupperware. Tupperware has led the way in innovative food storage solutions and continues to do so – changing the way families store and organise their food. Let’s delve deeper into what Tupperware has to offer.
Tupperware containers are sustainable
Since its inception, Tupperware has always been planet-focused. It’s sustainability starts from the manufacturing stage, creating products that are extremely durable and stand the test of time. By creating such a long-lasting product, Tupperware are in-turn helping to minimise plastic waste. All their products are reusable rather than single-use, decreasing the rate at which plastic ends up in our landfills.
Another part of the manufacturing process is the actual material used. In 2019, Tupperware launched the ECO+ material, which uses single-use plastic waste and transforms it into a premium food grade plastic. The ECO+ food storage range uses this material, supporting Tupperware’s sustainability efforts.
A common question people ask is: can Tupperware be recycled? The answer is yes – some of it can be recycled (depending on the product line). You’ll have to check the base of the container and check the recycling number. If it has a 1, 2 or 5, you can recycle it. However, if it has a 3, 4, 6 or 7, you won’t be able to include it in your recycling bin.
Tupperware actually recycles their own returned or defective products, resulting in a range called Recycline. If you are all about eco-friendly products, be sure to have a look at Recycline.
Reduce food waste with meal prepping
If you aren’t familiar with meal prep, it is the concept of cooking in bulk and storing food to eat at a later date. If you are wondering how to get started with healthy meal prep, investing in Tupperware containers is a starting point. After all, you can’t meal prep without meal prep containers!
Tupperware food storage containers have been designed with air-tight seals, keeping food fresher for longer and therefore reducing food waste. Mastering the art of meal prep is a must for those who are also time-poor and looking to save money.
At Laine Home, we’ve got the best Tupperware for meal prep, with Modular Mates being a great choice for storing bulk dry ingredients. You can easily see what is inside thanks to the clear windows, whilst the air tight seal keeps foods like pasta, cereal and rice extremely fresh.

You can also find a variety of fridge-safe Tupperware meal prep containers, namely the Ventsmart range. This is perfect for prolonging the freshness of your fruit and vegetable, allowing for the perfect level of air circulation.
